SECOND LEVEL SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES
County Dublin VEC currently has the responsibility for 26 Second Level schools & colleges throughout the three local authority areas in the administrative region. Four schools are Coláistí lan Ghaelach.
The total number of pupils availing of second level full-time education in VEC schools and colleges is in excess of 10,000.
All our schools and colleges are co-educational and multi-denominational. A number are designated Community Colleges and have representatives of the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin on their boards of management. The remainder are vocational schools.
Programmes being offered in our schools include Junior Certificate, Junior Certificate Schools Programme, Transition Year, Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied and Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme. The full range of subjects is offered at both Junior and Senior Cycle.
County Dublin VEC operates a policy of educational inclusion in all its schools and strives to meet the educational needs of all students.
A number of our schools are involved in the DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) programme, a new action plan for educational inclusion which provides for a standardised system for identifying levels of disadvantage and a new integrated School Support Programme.
Each school and college has a distinctive identity within its locality in that it provides a range of programmes, which reflect the needs of the local community and the student cohort.
