Blanchardstown ARP Programme Overview
Adult Refugee Programme
Blanchardstown/ Dublin 15 centre
Classes are provided 9am-1pm five mornings a week. The current course is running from January to December but we also run shorter courses as the need arises.
Future plans include running intensive short courses concentrating on specific needs among qualifying students (Stamp 4) in the area. Most of our students are well-established in Dublin 15 – Ireland’s most culturally diverse community – and any new courses will reflect this, covering areas such as community awareness and participation, preparing for work, returning to work , everyday English or grammar.
Our classes are based on a multilingual, multicultural approach. Although formal English is taught daily and features heavily in homework, students are given a wide-ranging overview of Irish society and history, especially the differences brought about by the arrival of the Celtic Tiger and the ‘new Irish’. Classes include regular referencing of the news and current affairs.
Social interaction is actively promoted in the classroom, at informal coffee break chats and on field trips.
Depending on the ability level of a class, students can expect to pass FETAC levels 3-5 in the course of a year’s study. In addition, Council of Europe and BULATS (Cambridge University) assessments are usually offered.
