The Department of Education and Science has provided County Dublin VEC and South Dublin County Council with funding to staff and operate the four Dual Purpose Sports Centres in its area. These centres will be operated by the Youth and Sport Development Service and aim to encourage positive linkages between the local community and schools. These state of the art facilities will be opened up to young people from disadvantaged areas. The will provide a service that will prioritise the school during the day and the local community during the evening, weekend and holiday periods. The four Sports Centres are located in Collinstown Park, Firhouse, Palmerstown and Killinarden.
