Adult Education Courses - Spring 2008 Now Enrolling!

With courses taking place in 71 schools and education centres in locations from Balbriggan in North County Dublin to Stillorgan in South County Dublin, there is an easily accessible venue to enhance your skills or learn a hobby in 2008. County Dublin VEC has a strong reputation for providing excellent educational services in these areas, and the organisation is committed to providing additional learning opportunities for all adults whatever their stage in life.

Our Adult Education programme is an important part of County Dublin’s VEC’s ongoing commitment to providing integrated education services which enable young people and adults to fulfil their potential in a positive learning environment,” says Marie Griffin, Education Officer with County Dublin VEC. “We invite anyone interested in developing a skill or taking on a new hobby to check out our website for a full list of courses available in Spring 2008”.

With many years experience in providing Adult Education programmes, County Dublin VEC has seen many different courses and programmes come and go over the years. “There are always the firm favourites such as Photography, Gardening, Yoga and Interior Design,” says Paul McCorry, Director of Adult Education at Castleknock College, a County Dublin VEC school. “But each year we get requests, and demand for, new and interesting courses which we are only too happy to accommodate once the demand is there. For instance we have a Ballroom Dancing class which is ideal for fun or for a special occasion. This has come back into vogue with younger people probably as a result of the popular TV shows as it wouldn’t have been popular for a long time before that. ”

A new course can be established by County Dublin VEC with a minimum of 10 applicants.New courses this year include Philosophy and Racial & Ethnic Studies, and some of the more innovative types of courses available this year include An Introduction to Wedding Floristry; Learn How to Set Up Your Own Recording Studio; Intercultural Training & Belly Dancing amongst hundreds of others.

Another incentive for signing up for night courses is the relatively inexpensive cost as courses start from just €68 for a 10 week programme.

The County Dublin VEC website is the perfect way to find the course you want to take up this year.  Check out our Find a Course application on our website, to find the perfect course in your location!
