Level 2 - Communications for Living
Learning Journal Assessment Brief
Guidelines
The ‘Learning Journal’ component of assessment in the Communications for Living programme should be the culmination of a process of reflection which has been built into teaching and learning as students progress through the programme.
The method of carrying out this reflection process can and should vary and may include visual/oral/interactive approaches as well as methods involving writing.
On at least three occasions during the programme, students should be facilitated in a reflective activity leading to the completion of an item of evidence for assessment. Refer to the section on Reflective activities on the website for suggestions.
Towards the end of the programme, students should be facilitated by a tutor in a culminating reflective activity. Refer to the section on the website: My Learning Journey – Guidelines for culminating reflective activity.
Evidence generated
1. At least three pieces of evidence (written, visual or oral) of reflection by the student on aspects of their experience of the programme – one to be recorded at an early stage of the programme and the other two at later stages
and
2. Evidence of culminating reflective activity, see My Learning Journey – Guidelines for culminating reflective activity.
